From Motorola 68000 to Arduino: Rediscovering My Passion for Embedded Systems|
My Journey into Embedded Systems |
I studied Electronics back in my polytechnic and university days, and I’ve always had a keen interest in how circuits come alive to make things work.
Back then, the popular microcontroller was the Motorola 68000 — a legendary chip used in many industrial and computing systems.
To be honest, I don’t even remember if we called it “embedded systems” at that time — it was just “microprocessor programming.”
Years later, I’ve decided to revisit that passion and rediscover this exciting field.
Embedded systems today have evolved far beyond what I studied — they’re now everywhere: in smart homes, wearables, drones, and even aircraft systems.
To begin my journey, I’ve purchased several development kits representing the major platforms used today:
- Arduino — beginner-friendly, open-source, and perfect for quick experiments like blinking LEDs or reading sensors.
- STM32 — professional-grade microcontrollers used in real-world products, fast and feature-rich.
- ESP32 — Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, perfect for Internet of Things (IoT) projects.
- Raspberry Pi — not just a microcontroller but a small computer, great for robotics, vision, and AI.
Right now, these kits are neatly arranged on my desk, waiting for their first “power-up.”
My plan is to start small, learn step by step, and record the process here — both my mistakes and small victories.
In a way, this feels like reconnecting with an old friend.
Same curiosity, new tools, and endless possibilities ahead.
🟢 Arduino:
